Feng Shui Update – May 2011

May 9th, 2011 by Drew

FREEFLOW FENG SHUI NEWSLETTER
MAY 2011

www.freeflow-fengshui.com

Greetings all,

What results did you get from discovering the polarity of your room, house or office? Yin or Yang? Do let me know.

We’ve been enjoying one of the warmest springs on record. It’s been quite a sudden shift from the extremely YIN winter and all the snow to the now very YANG hot temperatures and prolonged dryness. The balancing of YIN and YANG, highlighted in my last newsletter, is a constant dynamic. In summer, foods best to eat to ingest some YIN into our bodies, are leafy, light, upward growing foods, such as lettuce and spinach. In the winter the opposite is true, where root vegetables, and dishes which are cooked slowly and for a long time provide YANG Chi.

Now with the beginning of Summer upon us, we may seek YIN unconsciously, looking for a dark area of shade if spending too long out in the YANG sun; cool water if our mouth is dry. We naturally seek this balance.

9 Star Ki – May 2011
May 6th through to June 5th sees the Ki cycle turning to a 5 Earth (T’ai Ch) month.
This is the original ‘map’ orientation, which means our Stars rests in the house to which it belongs.

Lo Shu Grid – May 2011

9 Star Ki Forecast for May
9 Fire Star – You’re on top of the pile this month, fully in the spotlight and ready to be noticed, and sometimes from unexpected sources. You’re innate ability to find illumination in any situation is heightened and there for all to see.

8 Earth Star – Release any pressures this month by taking some time out of your daily routine for reading or study and let yourself relax. It’s important this month and year to stay flexible in mind and body. Visit a yoga class and stretch those meridians.

7 Metal Star – In this potentially changeable year, this is a month to relax, bring joy into your life and find an outlet for your creative urges. You may feel more ready to socialise and entertain this month so let your hair down and be carefree for a while.

6 Metal Star – People will seek you out for your strength of opinion and clarity of mind. As well as focusing on them give yourself some time to tie any loose ends that have been hanging open for a while. Consolidate.

5 Earth Star – Being in the centre of the Lo Shu Grid, also gives you the ability to connect to everyone around you. In this changing time, stay grounded as you may find yourself being attractive to others for advice and support.

4 Wood Star – The connectivity to all things is heightened this month. Be careful not to let your energy and enthusiasm push others into situations they find difficult. Trust your intuition as it is always right.

3 Wood Star – The vital and upward energy of spring and morning is yours this month. It’s your innate ability to empower those around you with your passion and enthusiasm. Give those plans an open road and push forwards with them.

2 Soil Star – Your generous and giving nature may find yourself in a romantic situation this month. As you find it important to care for others, you must also not forget to care for yourself. Remember to allow space for yourself.

1 Water Star – Your deep spiritual nature is in focus this month, don’t sink too deeply though, remain spontaneous and explore your creativity. Also, don’t be frustrated if things aren’t moving forward; this is a time for planning.

Looking at the property and the flying stars for May as above I can see that the fantastic stars 8, 1 and 6 are all in the northern sectors. Get busy with the vacuum cleaner and duster, clean and clutter clear these sectors in your home to allow this splendid auspicious energy to blossom in your home. The South is a romantic area, where the West is a potential for security issues. Check your windows and security here particularly if your front door faces this direction.

As this time of year is important for students concentrating on their exams and study. Use the South East of your home/room/bedroom to knuckle down and delve into your books. Make sure it is clear of clutter and any other distractions.

Feng Shui Update – April 2011

Apr 8th, 2011 by Drew

Spring has really kicked into action now, and hopefully you are all feeling the benefits of a little more sun on your heads!

April follows what I saw as a very intense month last month, with three days during March creating hot spots of change and upheaval. April however sees the 6 Metal Star gain centre stage and a certain stability and reasoning. The 6 ‘heaven’ Star relates to the I Ching Trigram made up of all three YANG lines, the ultimate masculine energy; Father. With this, comes responsibility, courage and to a degree a sensitivity due to the pressures of fatherhood. The 6 Metal energy also creates clarity of mind, the ability to focus and channel directly ones Chi. It does however lend to an unyielding, inflexible attitude at times when the pressure is on.

During the next few months I will be imparting some knowledge on a general Feng Shui level. With this month talking about how to determine whether your property is more masculine or feminine. As Feng Shui is primarily about the balance of Yin and Yang, it is important to know what imbalance is occurring in your home, so you can correct it.

As you look out of your front door. Draw a straight line backwards through your house, to determine which side is larger? The left or the right?

The left hand side is where the Dragon resides; masculine YANG energy, whereas the right the Tiger and feminine, YIN energy. With this simple exercise you can very quickly determine whether your house is more Dragon or Tiger based, YANG or YIN.

For example, if you live in a terrace at the right hand end of a long row of houses, with your door, on the right hand side, (as you look out!) the home you live in is very very YANG. As there are lots of support and structure on the left belonging to the Dragon. This property would be most suitable for a single male for example, but not suitable for a single female. The trick is to ‘balance’ the energy in your home to create harmony between YIN and YANG. In the above instance, lots of feminine energy can be introduced by planting a flowering border on the RHS (as you look out) decorating inside with nice colours, and symbols of femininity, keeping it clean and beautified.

The same can be done for your whole plot of land looking out from the entranceway or gate, likewise your office or bedroom. Try it and see what you come up with?

Lo Shu Grid – April 2011

Your 9 Star Ki Forecast for April

9 Fire Star – The 8 House this month can lend itself to you feeling slightly isolated and out of touch. It’s a MOUNTAIN in which we can hide. Don’t fall too deeply into its cave and keep a careful watch on your communication. I prefer to look at this month as a study month, but remember to get out and about and keep up the social interactions. Health wise, the earth element relates to our immune system, spleen, stomach and pancreas, so it would be wise to boost your system with a healthy diet and avoid excess.

8 Earth Star – You are in the 7 House of celebration and Joy. It’s a time of relaxation and reaping the rewards of your hard work of the past few months. You may feel more inclined to make rash purchases and adopt a more frivolous nature than usual. It’s a great month for socialising and getting a round of drinks in, but take stock of your account and try not to over-spend. Give yourself a breather too, space and time-out can allow you to focus on the future and clear your head.

7 Metal Star – With last month often being a transitional time, this month brings you into a stronger position (the 6 House) to make those important decisions about which way to go next. This house, can often put you in the driving seat and you may find others looking to you for guidance. As it relates to Autumn and a feeling of consolidation, remain flexible and don’t get drained with trying to cross every ‘t’ and burden yourself with too much fine detail.

6 Metal Star – Centre stage and possibly a time of change this month. If you’ve been pressuring yourself with work commitments and other responsibilities, then just make sure you stay focused and grounded, time out, time out!! Don’t stray too far this month, and let opportunities head your way. The trick of the being in the 5 House, is to allow yourself to be centre of attention but make any major decisions and choices about your future when you are in a stronger position with a better perspective, next month.

5 Earth Star – I’ll try and keep this brief as I know you are probably in a hurry! ;-) – It’s all go for you at the moment, lots of options and plans underway. I advise you to try and get some of these completed before next month (May). As this month is a continuation of the growth phase of March, you may get carried away with many opportunities, yet, try and remain focused on the ‘plan’ and remember to take time out from your busy schedule to recharge those batteries.

4 Wood Star – It’s all starting to kick off for you now. After a slow start to the year and if you’ve been feeling like your heals have been dragging for a year of so now, this is when it starts to get progressive. It’s a time of ‘birth’ for you. All those wishes and plans you’ve been carefully nurturing will start to gain momentum. You have had plenty of time to consider all the options, so my advise now is to just go for it! As wood relates to Liver and Gall bladder, take note of your impatience and don’t anger quickly. Drink moderately and ENJOY!

3 Wood Star – It’s easy to get a little frustrated when you occupy the 2 House. Patience is required, as the house reflects a time to prepare. You may feel a lot more socially oriented and it often brings out the nurturing, maternal side in us. As the Trigram consists of all YIN lines, this is full force EARTH energy coming up through our feet. Take time out and slip those shoes off and connect with the earth. Recharge your chi, as you will need a full strength set of batteries for the next few months to come.

2 Soil Star – This is a non-progressive month. Don’t expect too much to be moving ahead for you, as this is a time to concentrate on YOU! The 1 Water house relates to mid-winter and midnight. Where everything is still and static. It is like the seed beneath the ground planning and nurturing itself for the next phase of growth. It is a great time to look at our intake (food, health and general wellbeing). Take this time to get in touch with your more spiritual side and get a notepad for writing all those plans that have been buzzing around your head.

1 Water Star – You are on FIRE! – It’s your time to shine, and be noticed. The house relates to ‘fame’, ‘illumination’ and being under the spotlight. The same can be said for all those things you don’t want to be seen though, so deal with those first and allow what you do want to be spotted to take the limelight. Now is the time to put in your request for a pay-rise. I would however keep an eye on your sensitivity levels.. don’t take things to heart so easily.

Looking at the property and the flying stars for April as above. It would be best to avoid any building work on your property in the South East this month as this is where the 5 yellow resides. The North is not great either as the stagnant 2 star sits here clashing with the wood and water stars too. Not great for mother of the house. For those of you with entrance doors in the North West make sure your locks are working and be aware of any failing security here. The HOT SPOTS this month are the South, for career success and financially the West is looking good, so tinker with these areas and make sure they are spotless and clear of clutter.

Feng Shui Update – March 2011

Mar 6th, 2011 by Drew

Dear readers,

I hope this finds you all well and warm!?

Spring is trying to push away the clouds and bulbs are warming up to push through the cold and damp ground, as the seasons head towards the ‘east’ and the rabbit month. The east in Feng Shui represents WOOD, morning and spring time. The tail of the plough or big dipper is swinging round to the east also.

As of March 6th it is a 7 Metal (Trigram: Tui / Lake) month. This makes it a 7 year, month and during March there will also be three 7 metal DAYS! – on the 10th, 19th and 28th. This happens mostly once and sometimes twice a year. Bringing with it a certain intensity. As you may know, this makes all of our stars in the same location on all three levels (Year, Month and Day) a time of revolution and change for those 7 Metal stars out there and to a degree the rest of us too, as we will be occupying the same house too! The 6 Metal stars for example, will be occupying the 4 House. The impact of the day and month houses are more immediately felt, within our social interactions and family dynamics.

I would be interested to hear what you experience on these days or generally this month, particularly from any 7 Metal Stars out there? There will also be a similar alignment happening this year in December, so it really is a shifting of energies this year. Are things building up to next year – 2012? I thought this year could possibly be a ‘year that comes before’ – a year that is preparation for what some believe is going to be a monumental time for the human race in 2012.

Anyway, as you can see below, the 5 Yellow Star sits in the East, this is true as mentioned above for March also. So please avoid any renovations or building work in the East of your home, as the Grand Duke (Rabbit) also resides here!

As it relates to Autumn and a feeling of consolidation, remain flexible and don’t get drained with trying to cross every ‘t’ and burden yourself with too much fine detail.

7 Metal Star – A double-whammy month and as I mentioned above a triple-whammy on certain days. My advice is to stay as grounded as possible this month. Allow the attention to head your way, taking note of what’s on offer. Look at all the options laid out in front of you and try to avoid making any rash decisions. Best to wait until April. As this house relates to bones it can be a time of breakages and so take extra care if you are involved in competitive sports for example.

6 Metal Star – I’ll try and keep this brief as I know you are probably in a hurry! ;-) – It’s all go for you at the moment, lots of options and plans underway. I advise you to try and get some of these completed before next month (April). The same can be said for all those things you don’t want to be seen though, so deal with those first and allow what you do want to be spotted take centre stage. Now is the time to put in your request for a pay-rise. As FIRE elementally supports EARTH, it should be a very rewarding and productive time for you. I would however keep an eye on your sensitivity levels.. don’t take things to heart so easily.

1 Water Star – The 8 House this month can lend itself to you feeling slightly isolated and out of touch. It’s a MOUNTAIN in which we can hide. The clashing sector is mainly the West this month, so arguments may arise here, but can be dulled down using the water element. Hot spots are the South East, South West and North West. Keep these areas tidy and clutter free and if possible spend time in these sectors. The South West is great for romance and supporting relationships.

Feng Shui Update – December 2010

Dec 7th, 2010 by Drew

Hola!

Welcome to the latest update. I hope you are all keeping as warm as possible during this cold snap we’re all enduring. In this YIN time of year, it is a great time to balance ourselves with less food from the fridge and to create warming YANG foods like stews and soups, that warm us from within. Another great YANG food source being the determined and incredibly tasty salmon. A fish that has to overcome all sorts of obstacles in order to reproduce, a journey requiring huge amounts of YANG directive energy to carry out.

It’s quite appropriate as we enter the middle part of winter that the 1 water star takes centre stage today. This Star, represents mid-winter and the static, unmoving time of year where we get ourselves ready – the seed preparing for its next cycle of growth. It tends to produce a more introverted attitude, one of pensive philosophising and an adaptive, mediating nature.

So for those 1 Water Stars – you are in control – centre stage, and a time of opportunity and also fluctuation. It is best to stay pretty stationary during this time and allow situations and circumstances to unfold. See below for more details and a breakdown for all the stars this month.

In 9 Star Ki, December 7th until January 4th sees the turning of the Ki cycle to a 1 WATER month!

9 5 7
8 1 3
4 6 2
Lo Shu Grid December 2010

Forecast for the 9 Stars in December

9 Fire Star – Steady on! – make time to take a step back and look at your progress so far. Your FIRE energy, is getting all the wood it needs in the 4 Wood house, to burn brightly at this time. But it can leave you feeling very drained, so pace yourself and don’t forget to finish projects before another shiny option shows itself.

8 Earth Star – From having a slow couple of months you now feel like progress is being made in some areas. Don’t let any spontaneity make you feel like you are losing your steadfast grip on things, so with the flow for a while and see where the current takes you. A great time for starting any new projects that have been on the back-burner over the summer.

7 Metal Star – You’re busy year will suddenly feel a lot s l o w e r this month. Take this time to make sure YOU are being fully cared and catered for. If things have dropped off on the work front, maybe it’s time to get all the processes and accounts in order and to allow you to find a firm foundation again from which to flourish in the new year.

6 Metal Star – Keep warm! You find yourself this month in the 1 Water house and you may find any illness you catch takes a lot longer to recover from so pay attention to your body and catch it early. Build your inner energy and resources at this time, relaxing yoga and T’ai Chi would help keep you flexible at this time. A great career boosting month? Let me know!

5 Earth Star – Eureka! Do you feel switched on at the moment? Clarity of thought and illumination are brought to you in the 9 Fire House this month. Like moths to a light at night you will glow with a certain attraction so don’t be nervous if you gain more attention than normal this month. Who knows what it may bring!

4 Wood Star – An apt month for you as you enter the CAVE! – the 8 Mountain House often represents a time of retraction and reclusion. Earth always represents transition and change so remain open and allow communication to flow correctly and without misinterpretation. Your normally active and outgoing nature may dwindle somewhat so keep up any exercise routines and don’t stagnate too much… next month you’re on TOP!

3 Wood Star – I like this house, the 7 Metal (Lake) house of reflection and relaxation. It’s a month for letting things go, finding out from what has come before the appropriate way to proceed. Enjoy the more frivolous nature of the 7 metal, but watch the purse strings as you may be tempted to loosen them a little too much. ;-)

2 Soil Star – An intense past few months will hopefully bear fruit this month as you find yourself in the 6 metal house. Consolidation of the past months projects will allow you to have a much more relaxed new year so finalise any loose ends. Pay attention to your attitude this month, as often DAD’s house brings with it a certainty and authority, so care with your words.

1 Water Star – Centre stage and possibly a time of change this month.

If you don’t know what your 9 Star Ki number is please visit: http://www.freeflow-fengshui.com/resources/ki/ki_calculator.php

Directionology

The main direction to try and avoid this month is towards the South. This is where the 5 yellow star resides during December so avoid any long duration trips or moving house towards this sector.

Flying Stars

Looking at the property and flying stars for December as above. It would be best to avoid (like in directionology) any building work on your property in the south as this is where the 5 yellow resides. Great sectors this month are the CENTRE, EAST and NORTH for prosperity and career luck, NORTH EAST for studious Chi. The mischievous 7 metal star now sits in the SOUTH WEST, so please make sure your security in this area just for this month, particularly if you have a front or back door facing this direction, is up to the job!

That’s all for now, wishing you all a fantastic festive season and I look forward to sending you my next update in the New Year 2011 from PORTUGAL!!

9 Star Ki – September Update

Sep 6th, 2010 by Drew

Namaste!

As Autumn gains momentum with leaves starting to fall and the night’s drawing in, energy is inevitably becoming more contracted and METAL! Natures harvest is well underway, crops have been brought in and we look forward to reaping the rewards or our efforts during Spring and Summer. This is the time of year where the Monkey and Rooster take the stage with our attention pulled towards the West.

In 9 Star Ki, September 8th sees the turning of the Ki cycle to a 4 WIND (Wood) month!

3
8

2

The high-energy of this spring/dawn star, will make for a more spontaneous month full of activity. Some last ditch efforts to sort outstanding projects and ideas before winter fully takes hold. The 4 Wind (wood) star relates to the Gall Bladder organ and the time of day this meridian is active is between 11pm and 1am. So avoid late nights and dining into the evening. I see this star, being yin wood, as having passionate, upwards energy that can often be misdirected, I recommend pacing yourself during September, remember to complete tasks before opening another wide door or you may feel unbalanced with too much juggling going on.

Forecast for the 9 Stars in September
9 Fire Star – sits in its polar opposite house of 1 Water – You may feel introverted and out of touch as this house reflects a planning, self-development stage. Concentrate on your own energy this month and take care to keep warm and not to let your inner spirit dampen down too much.
8 Earth Star – In the spotlight this month, a clarity of thought may bring a surprise around the corner, but make sure you have “cleaned the windows so no dirt will be exposed!” – Typically seen as the FAME house, the south provides support (fire) and illumination – and after the changes in August you might just find yourself socialising more. : – )
7 Metal Star – Keep up the exercise program and watch out for communication levels. Keep your head up and continue with your hard work, it will be as rewarding as you’d hoped.
6 Metal Star – It’s a time for a bit of relaxation this month, take a weekend out and reflect on the past few months. It’s a good month for wining and dining your friends and family as you will feel much more up for a party than usual.
5 Earth Star – Your strong nature may become slightly more pedantic this month, keep your opinions in check and when wanted or you could be seen as overly bossy. A certain authority and control will appear attractive to others who may follow your every move.
4 Wood Star – As you enter the central position, it’s always a good space to remain grounded and allow opportunities to come to you – avoid too much movement and wait for any major decision making until next month.
3 Wood Star – Your natural energetic nature takes another leap forward and you feel able to conquer the world. Pace yourself though and concentrate on completing one task before getting involved in another. Juggling too much can lead to very achy arms!
2 Soil Star – Finally things seem to become more of a reality now, as your plans take shape. The frustrations of the past month or so will be replaced with optimism and an altogether more dynamic approach as opportunities head your way.
1 Water Star – Your deep pensive nature begins to warm up a little and a sense of renewed movement may find you laying out the stepping-stones for your newly hatched plans.

A Transitional Time of Year

Feb 20th, 2010 by Drew

Even though we are still feeling the cold and being hit with the odd snow shower, the days are none-the-less lengthening. Brighter skies provide a bit of needed sunlight on our heads, and the temperatures are gradually rising. Snowdrops are lifting themselves finally from the soil, and dormant trees – feeling the warming days – undergo an awakening process, pushing once more outwards into another cycle of growth.

This time of year, is often very transitional. It’s just turned a New Year in China, a Tiger year. February is also a Tiger month; this particular Chinese astrological sign being an Earth symbol. Earth months, like February, bridge the gap between the seasons. They act like buffers, easing us between the pressures of a main cardinal direction. By that I mean North to East, a throw back from my Feng Shui knowledge, makes me look at seasons from a directional point of view. The tail end of The Plough reassuringly now pointing more towards the East, spring and growth, a time of ideas and forward thinking, turning your plans into working practices. North on the other hand represents Winter, stark contrasts, hibernation and the peak of Yin; a time for self regeneration and fortifying ourselves. I digress.

SO, back to the Tiger Earth month and the wavering, not sure if i’m coming or going, in between bit: the Northeast (or strictly speaking between 52.5 deg. and 67.5 deg!). Have you felt just that little bit more progressive in attitude recently? The faint memory of the festive period, being washed aside with ideas and a creative feeling of what’s approaching – it’s tantalizingly tangible. The pouncing Tiger making us want to leap into spring and make the most of any and all opportunities. But before we jump ahead maybe reflect while we have time, make the most of this transitional changing time of year, before the East is upon us, and create yourself a level playing field from which to grow and develop.

It’s a great time of year to start looking at your living space and home from a spring clean point of view. Some of us are gladly feeling less full of cold which in it’s own way is a ridding of any stagnant, unwanted energy. Why not try applying this to your home. Open all the windows when we get a sunny bright day and with your newly defrosted eyes, glance around for any lingering effects that are either redundant, unwanted or chores you’ve just been meaning to ‘get-round-to-it’ for a while. I had a massive sort out in my home office, throwing away paperwork which has been occupying cupboard space for far too long. Old files, which have no relevance in my world today.

I find it very cathartic and allows space, chi and furthermore opportunity into the room and your life. Light some candles and burn some incense while the room gets some fresh air, shifting the energy from any hidden places with a sharp clap of the hands, any dull notes clap again. Get behind the sofa and under the beds, if you can!>? Whether you car boot, charity shop or give things away, anything you can’t do immediately, add to a to-do list so you are all prepared for when springs full frontal energy finally kicks in.

24 Hour Meridian Feng Shui Clock

Feb 20th, 2010 by Drew
24 Hour Meridian Feng Shui Clock

The FREEFLOW 24 Hour Meridian Feng Shui Wall Clock

This totally exclusive and unique 24 hour feng shui meridian wall clock is a one of a kind design by Feng Shui consultant and graphic designer David Walters.

The main hand rotates once during the day, the hour hand starting the hour at the bottom, it takes a while to adjust to and tell the time quickly. Hours are marked on the outermost ring around the clock, next the minutes shown every 5 minute The outermost ring shows the Chinese zodiacal animal signs and the two hour slots that they govern. The Hour of the Rat being from 11pm to 1am etc. There is a feint dividing line after the Chinese Astrological signs and the next two rows. This indicates that there is NO correlation between this and the following meridians and western signs. These do however relate to each other. There is a semicircle marked as a darker shadow on the lower half of the clock – the YIN part of the day, likewise the yin/yang symbol is correctly oriented with the Yang part (white area) indicating the peak of chi, at the top. Midnight or the North is facing down. The triadic wave shows the energetic direction of chi through the body from positive, yang (+) to negative, yin (-). This is also marked next to the meridian.
