This field, taken over by poppies, just down the road from my old house in south Lincolnshire was a wash of red from the road, and I just had to stop.

Took a trip out to the Butterfly Park near Long Sutton, South Lincolnshire. I felt so sorry for the birds tethered to stumps all in rows, forcing an animal of flight to be pinned to the ground, bad times… Even the few reptiles in the butterfly enclosure looked injured and far from top condition. I know these places are educational for kids and make a nice afternoon out, but unless huge efforts are made, they can just leave you feeling almost responsible for some very dejected and sad looking creatures.
